How safe is your child when you’re away and the babysitter is in charge? That depends on how prepared your babysitter is. “Safety Whys” is a program that trains potential babysitters, ages 11 to 17 on how to become a “Super Sitter.”
It will be held at St. Luke’s Baptist Hospital on Saturday, October 4th from 8:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Kids will learn how to start their babysitting business, how to plan activities for kids of all ages, and what to know to prevent emergencies and be prepared for all types of situations. Some of the areas covered are: crime prevention, CPR and Heimlich demonstration, electrical and natural gas safety, fire safety, first aid and infection control. The San Antonio Emergency Nurses Association consults with “Safety Whys” on program material. Registration is required. The cost of the course is $21 and lunch is provided.
