With Mission Trail Baptist Hospital (MTBH) now open, we in the South Texas Region of Vanguard Health Systems are moving full speed ahead with the groundbreaking for the New Braunfels wellness campus and hospital, Resolute Health. Baptist Health Systems embraces and embodies a vision of “health for life” and a commitment to improve health in its communities, improve the healthcare experience, and to reduce the overall cost of care. Resolute Health will build on that legacy and experience while also creating an independent healthcare model that will be uniquely designed to serve and embrace the tri-county area.

On Wednesday, August 3rd, Baptist Health System CEO, Graham Reeve and members from Baptist Health System joined leadership from Resolute Health as well as 450 community leaders, physicians and members of the greater New Braunfels, Seguin and San Marcos communities to break ground on the 84-acre wellness campus and hospital and to unveil the design for this unique concept. Resolute Health was represented by CEO Tess Coody and Dr. Gary Bird, Resolute Health Chief Medical Development Officer. Dr. George Gaston, Baptist Health System VP of Ministry, provided the invocation and New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce Chairman Corey Hall also provided remarks. Resolute Health and Baptist Health System are both affiliates of Vanguard Health Systems, which was represented by Vanguard Health Systems Chairman and CEO Charles Martin.
“Resolute Health is taking a completely unique approach to healthcare with this wellness campus,” said Coody. “We believe that being proactive and holistic about health – and that includes everything from a more thoughtful approach to growing food to a healthy activity and fitness options to a calm, restorative environment – will ultimately prevent and minimize illness. Resolute Health is about bringing wellness to this growing community.”
The campus will include a proposed state-of-the-art acute care hospital, medical office building, a medically-integrated fitness facility, and retail health and wellness shops and restaurants. Extensive walking trails, meditation gardens and community gathering spaces will ring the campus, located at the Creekside shopping center.
Another example of this innovative approach began July 11th when Resolute Health launched the Sow Healthy Intergenerational Garden with Comal ISD and others to bring students together with seniors to grow healthy foods and promote movement, nutrition and healthy lifestyles. By Fall 2011, The Resolute Health Diabetes Care Center, will open to address the growing rate of diabetes in Comal County, bringing together specialized doctors, personalized treatment plans, and state-of-the-art medicine.
Construction on the Wellness Campus, located at FM 306 and FM 1101 near the Creekside Shopping Complex in New Braunfels, is expected to take between 18 – 20 months to complete.
