ACPE Application

How Do I Apply for CPE?

If you are applying for an initial unit of CPE in our Summer Internship, you need to attend to: 1) a completed ACPE application, 2) completion of at least one year of seminary (although some exceptions are made for laypersons on an individual basis), 3) screening interview by an ACPE supervisor (at BHS when possible).

If you are applying for an initial unit of CPE in our Extended Internship, you need to attend to: 1) a completed ACPE application, 2) screening interview by an ACPE supervisor (at BHS when possible), 3) open to clergy and/or laypersons.

If you are applying for the CPE Residency Program, you need to attend to: 1) a completed ACPE application, 2) successful completion of one unit of CPE, 3) a Master of Divinity degree or equivalent (completed or in process), 4) Onsite interview with CPE screening committee.

If you are applying for Supervisory Education, you need to attend to: 1) a completed ACPE application, 2) successful completion of one year of CPE, 3) a Master of Divinity degree or equivalent is required, 4) Onsite interview with CPE screening committee.


What Can I Expect During the Formal Interview?

The supervisor will meet with you to discuss your application and any questions you may have about CPE and Baptist Health System. You will have an opportunity to talk with present CPE students to learn about their collective experiences of our CPE program as well as to meet some of the pastoral care staff who will be also serving as mentors should you be accepted. If you are applying for the Residency or Supervisory Training, there will also be an interview with the screening committee who will want to talk with you about your application, areas of interest and your learning goals. The committee will have received copies of your material prior to the interview. You will be encouraged to bring your own questions to the interview as we see the screening process as a two way discovery.


Is There a Fee for the Interview Process?

There is a $35.00 fee to process your application. Each applicant is responsible for his/her own travel/lodging expenses.  If accepted, there is a $50.00 tuition deposit required to ensure your position in the program.


Is Housing Provided?

BHS does not provide housing however there is a wide selection of apartment possibilities in the San Antonio area.
