We were the first in Stone Oak to provide the following services:
• Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Our Level IIIB NICU provides a highly skilled and compassionate nursing staff, around-the-clock staffing by board-certified neonatologists, and the most technologically advanced equipment to care for the smallest newborns.
• Pediatric Intensive Care Unit
. The PICU at North Central Baptist is a 10-bed unit staffed 24/7 by the finest critical care physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists and other pediatric personnel.
• Children’s Emergency Center
. We offer a separate emergency room just for children. Our 18-bed unit is equipped with a team of pediatric-trained nurses and board-certified pediatricians dedicated to caring for the children of San Antonio.
• Robotic Surgery.
We are home to two da Vinci® robots, the Si™ and S™models. Robotic surgery decreases patients’ pain, blood loss and risk of complications, as well as shortens hospital stay and accelerates recovery.
• Cardiology.
Our comprehensive Cardiovascular Center combines highly trained clinicians with the latest treatment for cardiovascular disease and is home to a non-invasive cardiovascular lab, a vascular suite, two cardiac catheterization suites and a 9-bed recovery area.
• Women’s Services.
From state-of-the-art labor and delivery rooms and perinatal consultation to breastfeeding support and gynecologic robotic surgery, we offer a full array of high-quality women’s care. Three c-section rooms and 43 all-private post partum rooms also support our over 300 deliveries per month.
• Orthopedics.
We help keep patients moving by providing sports medicine, cartilage restoration, orthopedic reconstruction and joint replacement, spine procedures and ACE, our Medicare partnership program providing high-quality orthopedics and lower costs.

Adult Critical Care
. Our adult Intensive Care Unit has 10 intensive care beds and four intermediate care beds that are staffed by highly skilled nursing staff and expert physicians. The most up-to-date technology, including remote monitoring of patients, allows us to provide the highest level of intensive care in a comforting, healing environment.
And we were the first to become:

An AirLIFE homebase.
San Antonio AirLIFE now bases a helicopter on our campus full time. AirLIFE is the only nonprofit and Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Services-accredited air medical
service in Southwest Texas, providing emergency air transport to more than 50 counties within a 150-mile radius of San Antonio.

An Accredited Chest Pain Center.
Granted by The Society of Chest Pain Centers, this accreditation means North Central meets or exceeds the most stringent measures for improving the quality of care and demonstrating expertise in timely diagnosis of patients with acute coronary syndrome and chest pain.

A Certified Stroke Center. This certification by the Joint Commission recognizes our hospital for exceptional efforts to foster better outcomes for stroke care.
