What is PediCom?
It’s a one-call solution for immediate and reliable pediatric transfers. The PediCom program can accommodate your facility’s need for rapid pediatric transfer to the Children’s Emergency Center (CEC), Pediatric floor or Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) with only one phone call. Our team will assist you with physician acceptance, administrative approval and transport assistance 24 hours a day.

About the PediCom Physicians
To meet pediatric critical care needs Board-Certified Pediatric Intensivists and a state-of-the-art PICU, all of which are vital for the care of your patient are offered at North Central Baptist Hospital. The Pediatric Intensivists are John Marcum, MD, Daniel Sedillo, MD and Samuel Zuckerman, MD.

The hospital also has a Pediatric Hospitalist Program led by Lee Armstrong, MD who is Board-Certified in General Pediatrics. The pediatric staff will keep you informed regarding the care of your patient during their stay.

The Children’s Emergency Center (CEC) is available for all pediatric patients in need of triage. Santos Cantu Jr., MD, a Board-Certified Pediatrician with extensive experience in Pediatric Emergency Medicine, is the Medical Director of the CEC, which is a state-of-the-art Pediatric Emergency Department that is staffed by members of Emergency Pediatric Physician Management.

In an emergency transfer, San Antonio AirLIFE is available to provide helicopter transport. AirLIFE’s in-flight medical crew can provide assessments and advanced medical intervention if necessary. (For example, flight time from San Antonio to Laredo is less than 60 minutes!)

The Baptist Regional Children’s Center at North Central Baptist Hospital
The Regional Children’s Center at North Central Baptist Hospital offers a comprehensive package of pediatric healthcare. Our Children’s Emergency Center (CEC) is an 18-bed, state-of-the-art facility. The main pediatric unit has 28 beds, eight of which are private. We have a full-time Child Life Specialist to assist with and improve your child’s stay.

Our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is a 10-bed unit that is staffed by the finest physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists and other pediatric personnel. Take a virtual tour.

When should you use PediCom?
Pediatric patients in need of a higher level of pediatric care unavailable at your facility can be transferred to North Central Baptist Hospital for high quality care.
