Orthopedic Outpatient Rehab

Specialized Orthopedic Outpatient Rehab

We offer the following types of specialized orthopedic outpatient therapy:

  • Balance therapy (fall prevention) targets unsteadiness with exercise to improve function and prevent falls
  • Hand therapy (manual therapy) aims to regain function of the hand joints and surrounding tissues through hands-on manipulation
  • Home program instruction teaches exercises that complement therapy for long-term management
  • Mobility/transfer training teaches functional movement, such as how to get in and out of a bed, chair or car and stair climbing
  • Therapeutic exercise aims to improve range of motion, strength, flexibility, and endurance
  • Vestibular therapy, an exercise-based program that addresses deficits of the inner ear, including dizziness, unsteadiness, walking difficulties, vertigo
  • Walking therapy (gait training) provides exercises and activities that restore normal walking patterns
  • Water therapy (aquatic therapy/hydrotherapy) aims to decrease joints stress while strengthening and regaining function

Outpatient Occupational Therapy

At Baptist, our outpatient occupational therapy helps people with physical, developmental, or emotional disabilities lead more independent, productive and satisfying lives.

Commonly treated methods are:

  • ADL trainingan exercise program which restores the ability to perform daily activities like dressing, bathing, eating, cooking and community living
  • Custom splintingsupporting, aligning, preventing, or correcting deformities to improve the function of movable parts of the body
  • Hand therapy (manual therapy), to regain function of the hand joints and surrounding tissues through hands-on manipulation
  • Neurological therapyan exercise-based program geared toward returning patients to activities of daily living (ADLs), work and/or prior levels of function after damage to the neurological system including stroke, brain injury or any other disruption of the nervous system

Outpatient Speech Therapy

At Baptist, we treat speech and communication disorders using oral-motor work, speech drills to improve clarity, or sound production practice to improve articulation.
