Lily S. Bates, MD, is a cardiovascular disease physician who is board certified in cardiology, echocardiography and internal medicine. Her medical education began at Cornell University where she earned a BS in human biology with a special focus on gerontology. Dr. Bates returned to her home state of Texas for her medical degree, then to Arkansas for her internship and residency in internal medicine. She again returned to Texas for her fellowship training in cardiovascular disease. Dr. Bates practices preventative cardiology, helping her patients modify lifestyles to lessen the impact of cardiovascular disease. She has a particular interest in cardiovascular disease in women and enjoys working with her patients on an individual basis to develop treatment plans specific for each one’s needs. Dr. Bates places a high priority on educating her patients and open, two-way communication.

Dr. Bates is excellent. She is using gold standard methodologies which is a great place to start. I personally am not a fan of pharmaceuticals and would prefer to use otc solutions like aspirin Instead of Plavix, which I have used In the past with a side effect. I do understand what Dr. Bates Is recommending and we have agreed to us aspirin which I am good with as a treatment to maximize the stent effectiveness. I have been following Dr. Bates recommendations on diet and exercise and the results have been good.

Dr. Bates is extremely through, and careful. This was our initial meeting and I really had no problems for her. It had been several years since I had seen a cardiologist after my move to Texas. I had no problems but at 77 I figured I better have a heart doctor who I am comfortable with in case of a problem in the future. Dr. Bates asked about my heart attack, 14 years prior, I described the event, provided stent info and gave the name of my former Cardiologist in Naperville Illinois who has retired Dr. Tim Larkin. Dr. Bates found a minor heart murmur and wanted me to have an echo, I thought it was overkill but will consider having one so Dr. Bates will have a base line. All in all I was very pleased with Dr. Bates, she is very through, detailed oriented, asks good questions, and has a relaxed easy manner that I greatly appreciate, she even laughed at my jokes.

I love that Dr Bates take my concerns seriously. And I can tell she is actually listening to me and she knows who I am and I don't have to tell her my entire history every visit. I appreciate the brief review of my file before she comes in so I feel like it's not the first time I'm meeting her every visit.

The entire process at this office was fantastic which is unusual nowadays. I will definitely return and recommend this heart clinic and specifically Dr Bates & her team to anyone who may need her assistance. The ease to register along with the entire intake and appointment processes were really seamless. Usually I expect to wait at a Doc Visit. I had to keep up with y'all you were so efficient.

Dr. Bates was wonderful. I have been a patient in this clinic for several years now and have been pleased with the care I have received. However, Dr. Bates is the first physician to turn the computer screen so that we could both see and read it. Dr. Bates pointed to information on the screen that she wanted to draw my attention to. She was the first to tell me my diagnosis and explain it to me. She also read through recent labs and explained the significance of each test. Not only did Dr. Bates listen to my concerns, she also educated me about my diagnoses and the significance of each and what I can do to help slow the progression. This was the first time that I have fully understood what is going on with my heart, valves and arteries. What a relief! Dr. Bates is the best and I look forward to working with her and learning from her.
