Ryan Donahue, MD, is a urologist who completed advanced medical training at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle. He earned his medical degree from Texas Tech Health Sciences Center in Lubbock and was admitted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Donahue treats disease by recognizing the unique characteristics of each of his patients. He seeks to be a partner with his patients in choosing the best course of treatment by considering the physical, emotional and social factors that might help or hinder their healing. From this holistic perspective, Dr. Donahue discusses treatment options and possible outcomes with patients, so that they can make informed decisions about their respective care plans. He enjoys the broad scope of both female and male urological issues, employing appropriate medical or surgical therapies. For surgical interventions, he seeks to use minimally invasive laparoscopic or robotic-assisted surgery when appropriate. An eighth-generation native Texan who grew up in Austin, Dr. Donahue and his wife have fulfilled their goal of returning to Central Texas to raise their two young daughters “who were born in Seattle over Texas soil.” He enjoys family time, playing with his dogs (Walter & Theodore), watching college football, hiking, cycling, fishing, being outdoors and on the water.

Dr. Donahue is very knowledgeable with his area of practice. He always tells me what is going on and will explain it so that I understand. If I still don't understand he will try to explain it differently so that I get it. He is very concerned about my care and is proactive about treating me. He looks ahead to long term health and not just treating the symptom of the condition. He actually exhibits genuine concern, he will actually call you with test results to explain them and give next steps. This is rare nowadays and it makes me feel confident that he ultimately has my care in mind.

Scheduling is easy both by phone or in person. Staff are helpful and considerate of our schedules too. The office hours good but it's hard to have an appointment without taking time off work to do so. During this visit the staff in the registration area were calm and helpful. They were quick to get the referrals printed out and handed to me before I walked out.

I have already recommended him to someone. Dr. Donahue has called me at home himself more than once to discuss culture results and plan for care. My case has been a long time (6+ months ) to finally have a clear urine, and he has never shown any lack of patience with me even once. He is very quick to answer a question through the patient portal. I am confident that he reads it himself and replies. I feel like he respects me as a person ( former RN) and not just a patient. I know he really cares. I've been a nurse for more than 45 years, and I don't recommend a doctor easily or often.

Dr. Donahue was awesome! He was personable, interested in my medical history/experience, and executed care and future strategies that were effective for me. When I called back to his office late afternoon on 14 July with a complaint of burning sensation during urination, I was told that he was in surgery. I left a message for him to call me back. I received a call back from him in less than 45 minutes and he prescribed an antibiotic that relieved my discomfort from a UTI within 10 hours. He called back a second time to assure that I was experiencing continued urine flow. These actions certainly instilled my confidence in Dr. Donahue and the BHS Physicians Network. Thank you.

When I was taken to the exam room, a staff member let me know that Dr Donahue was running late because he was coming from a surgery, but that he would be there soon, and if it would be a long wait time, they would inform me. He came within about 10 mins, and was ready to help me with my issues right away.

Dr Donahue is very kind, has nice bedside manner, and really listens well to my concerns and questions. He explains and answers in a way that I can easily understand, and always asks me which route I would like to go in my treatment plan, after laying out all the options. He always makes me feel like I have time to say what I need to say; I never feel rushed when I see him. I feel like I am in good hands with Dr Donahue for all my Urology needs, and I feel like he's going to help me get my issues under control.
