(San Antonio) -- San Antonians can be proud to know that when it comes to patient safety, all six of the Baptist Health System hospitals have received top national ranking. Baptist Medical Center downtown; Mission Trail Baptist Hospital on the south side; Northeast Baptist Hospital; North Central Baptist Hospital in Stone Oak; St. Luke’s Baptist Hospital in the Medical Center; and Resolute Health Hospital in New Braunfels, all part of the Baptist Health System, received an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group. This national distinction celebrates Baptist Health System’s achievements in protecting hospital patients from preventable harm and errors.

Matt Stone, Group CEO of Baptist Health System said the hospital’s consistent track record for safety recognizes the staff’s commitment to placing their patients’ safety at the forefront. “This is important for the community to know as they count on us to keep them and their families safe while in our care every day,” Stone said.

The Leapfrog Group is an independent national watchdog organization with a 10-year history of

assigning letter grades to general hospitals throughout the United States, based on a hospital’s ability to

prevent medical errors and harm to patients. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent, and free to the public. Hospital Safety Grade results are based on more than 30 national performance

measures and are updated each fall and spring.

“I applaud Baptist Health System’s leadership and workforce for their strong commitment to safety and

transparency,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group.

“An ‘A’ Safety Grade is a sign that hospitals are continuously evaluating their performance, so that they can best protect patients. Your hospitals’ teams should be extremely proud of their dedication and achievement.”
