Baptist Health System celebrates National Doctors’ Day March 30

Dec 12, 2021

(San Antonio, TX, March 29, 2018) – Baptist Health System will celebrate National Doctors’ Day, on Friday, March 30, in honor of its physicians’ hard work and commitment to delivering quality, compassionate care.

“We are so proud of the dedication our physicians have to serving the health care needs of our patients,” said Matt Stone, Chief Executive Officer for Baptist Health System. “National Doctors’ Day allows us the chance to say thank you to these extraordinary people who care for our families and friends.”

Celebrated on March 30 each year, Doctors’ Day was officially established in 1991 when President George Bush issued a proclamation in observance of the day. March 30 marks the anniversary of the first use of general anesthesia in surgery by Dr. Crawford W. Long in 1842.

“Our physicians’ commitment to quality care is vital to the success of our hospital and the well-being of our patients,” Stone said. “Therefore, it is imperative that we take the time to acknowledge them for their efforts.”

As part of this year’s celebration, all five Baptist San Antonio hospitals (Baptist Medical Center, St. Luke’s Baptist Hospital, Mission Trail Baptist Hospital, Northeast Baptist Hospital, North Central Baptist Hospital as well as its New Braunfels location Resolute Health Hospital) are treating their physicians to a complimentary breakfast and lunch this week.
