New CEO to lead Baptist Medical Center

San Antonio – Baptist Health System is pleased to announce the addition of Jorge Trevino, M.SC., B.SC., to the system’s hospital leadership team. Trevino has taken on the role of CEO for Baptist Medical Center, where he is responsible for the hospital’s day-to-day operations and leading a team with a deep strategic focus on quality, operations and growth.

Jorge Trevino“Jorge is a seasoned health care executive with more than 25 years of experience in hospital leadership, operations and patient care,” said Matt Stone, CEO of Baptist Health System and the Tenet Texas Hospitals. “His background as a nurse in many areas of health care gives him a unique perspective on the needs of our patients as well as our employees."

Trevino describes Baptist Medical Center as a hidden gem for cardiovascular services, emergency care and award-winning diabetes, endocrinology, nephrology and pulmonology care among others.

“I am honored and excited to work at a hospital that has such a long and rich history in San Antonio,” Trevino said. “Baptist Medical Center is undergoing tremendous growth of services, and updates to the physical campus so that our exceptional caregivers can continue to provide some of the highest quality critical care in the heart of the community,” he said.

Prior to Baptist, Trevino served as CEO of City Hospital at White Rock in Dallas. He previously served as the interim CEO and chief operating officer for Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – White Rock in Dallas, and as chief operating officer and vice president of operational improvements at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen. His healthcare experience includes a stint as administrative director of Critical Care and Emergency Services and director of Emergency Services at Northeast Baptist Hospital in San Antonio. Prior to his role at Northeast Baptist, Trevino was assistant director of clinical operations and a flight nurse for San Antonio AirLIFE. Other roles have included director of the Children’s Emergency Department, trauma care coordinator, and as an RN in the ED and PICU at Christus Santa Rosa in San Antonio.

Trevino earned his M.SC. in nursing administration and B.SC. in nursing from the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio. He is Lean Six Sigma certified. His passion is team development and creating an environment of transparency and collective focus.
