Two new CEOs join Baptist leadership team
Nov 1, 2023(San Antonio, TX) ¬¬– Baptist Health System announces the addition of Terry Treadwell, M.B.A., and Thomas McKinney, M.H.A., FACHE, to its leadership team. Treadwell is the new CEO for Northeast Baptist Hospital at 8811 Village Drive, SAT 78217. McKinney is the new CEO of Baptist Medical Center in downtown at 111 Dallas Street, SAT 78205.
Matt Stone, Group CEO of Baptist Health System, said Treadwell and McKinney are the ideal fit to lead the hospitals during a time of tremendous growth in services and access to care that Baptist is building for the community.
“In addition to Treadwell’s and McKinney’s extensive executive leadership and hospital operations experience, both have previously served in clinical roles giving them a unique perspective on the needs of our patients as well as our staff,” Stone said.
Treadwell began his healthcare career in the housekeeping, dietary, and security departments. He progressed in his profession by completing radiology technical training and gained clinical expertise in multiple diagnostic imaging and procedural modalities. McKinney served as a clinical laboratory scientist at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston and at Christus St. Michael Health System in Texarkana where he also held positions as director of laboratory services and director of cardiovascular services.
“Both are committed to providing strong fiscal, operational and growth leadership for our hospitals, and to fostering strong relationships with community leaders, medical, nursing and ancillary and support staff,” Stone said. “I am proud to have these two professionals join our team and I am confident they will lead us to continued future growth and success,” he added.

Terry Treadwell brings more than 40 years of extensive healthcare experience to Northeast Baptist Hospital. His tenure in the healthcare industry includes leadership positions in for–profit and joint–venture hospitals as well as government healthcare systems.
Treadwell most recently served as the Chief Executive Officer of Merit Health River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Prior to that, he served as Chief Operations Officer at Doctor's Hospital of Augusta in Georgia and Northeast Methodist Hospital in San Antonio.
Treadwell has a broad understanding of hospital operations, having worked in various positions from entry level to senior leadership. He began his healthcare career in the housekeeping, dietary, and security departments. He progressed his career by completing radiology technical training, gaining clinical expertise in multiple diagnostic imaging and procedural modalities. He also has held distinguished leadership roles in training/education, logistics, quality, and regulatory compliance. Over the past two decades, Treadwell has held leadership positions at prestigious health systems nationwide, including San Antonio. He is also a decorated member of the United States Air Force, having served in multiple operations. He retired from active duty at the 59th Medical Wing, Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio capping off a rewarding military career.
Treadwell earned his Master of Business Administration degree from Our Lady of the Lake University and a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Education from Wayland Baptist University in San Antonio.

Thomas McKinney, MHA, FACHE, has more than 20 years of experience in hospital leadership and clinical operations. Most recently, he served as market president for Christus Santa Rosa Hospital in San Marcos. In addition to oversight of the170-bed acute care hospital there, McKinney also had responsibility for a multispecialty provider group, additional clinical access points and a charitable foundation. Prior to Christus San Marcos, McKinney was president for Christus Spohn hospitals in Alice and Kingsville, Texas and held various other hospital leadership roles at Christus hospitals across Texas.
In addition to his tenure in hospital leadership, McKinney has a clinical background. He served as a clinical laboratory scientist at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston and at Christus St. Michael Health System in Texarkana where he also held positions as director of laboratory services and director of cardiovascular services. McKinney earned a Master of Healthcare Administration from Seton Hall University in New Jersey. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology from the University of North Texas, Denton, and a Certificate of Completion in the School of Medical Technology from The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
