  • Excessive daytime sleepiness
  • Falling asleep at inappropriate times like driving a vehicle or in a work meeting
  • Nighttime chest pain
  • High blood pressure

Sleep studies

A sleep study (polysomnography) tests bodily functions during sleep. It is a non-invasive and painless way to measure brain waves, eye movement, sleep stages, airflow (nose and mouth), heart rate, chin and leg muscle activity, abdominal and chest wall movement and oxygen saturation.

Depending on the nature of your sleep disorder, you may need one or two nights of polysomnography (sleep study) done on an outpatient basis in a private bedroom at one of our San Antonio sleep centers. Trained technicians using state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment will monitor you from a separate control room for the duration of the study. The sleep doctors and staff attempt to make the environment as comfortable as possible.
