Baptist Nurses Named Among Top 25 in South-Central TexasDec 10, 2018
San Antonio, TX - Seven Baptist Health System nurses have been honored by the South-Central Texas Organization of Nurse Executives (SCTONE) as among the Best 25 Nurses of South-Central Texas. SCTONE recognizes nurse leaders in Texas who improve healthcare through collaboration and innovation. Each nurse was chosen for their contributions in a particular area.
“We are very proud to have so many of our nurses selected for this honor,” said Baptist Health System CNO Kristen Lemus. “These nurses exemplify the dedicated, compassionate care being delivered in our hospitals.”
In the category of Transforming Care - Serving the Unique Needs of Various Populations, two Baptist Health System nurses were recognized: Erma Reyna RN, a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit nurse at Baptist Medical Center and Brenda Stewart MSN, APRN, a Diabetes Educator at Mission Trail Baptist Hospital.
For Improving the Delivery of Nursing Care, Allison Gray BSN, RN, a nurse at St. Luke’s Baptist, was chosen for her work in the area of Well-Being for Women and Neonates related to Human Trafficking & Abuse.
Connie Thigpen, BSN, RN at Baptist Medical Center, was recognized in the category of Driving Nursing Practice through Shared Governance. Connie is a Shift Supervisor at BMC, Chairs the Nursing Practice Council and serves on the Unit Practice Council for the ICU.
In the area of Promoting Nursing Practice and Supporting Nurses SCTONE selected Bridget Sperry, RNC from Northeast Baptist Hospital. Sperry is on the Nurse Leadership Council where she works on house-wide changes and process improvement. She is also a Servant leadership with a heart of gold staff nurse.
Marie Barnes, RN, Director of Oncology Services at North Central Baptist was recognized for her work Creating a Healthy Work Environment Through Patient Care Leadership.
For her work Promoting the Image of Nursing through Professional Organizations, SCTONE honored Golda Manalili, MSN, RN-BC from Baptist Medical Center. Manalili is President-Elect of the Philippine Nurses Association of San Antonio (PNASA), Chair of the By-Laws Committee and Ambassador PNASA- Director.
