Tests & Screenings
Getting the most accurate health diagnosis is one of the first steps in proper treatment. At Baptist Health System, we offer a wide range of tests and screenings.
This type of test is an X-ray exam used to visualize the inside of blood vessels and organs within the body. Angiograms are often used to look for signs of blockages or narrowing of the blood vessels that may be interfering with normal blood flow in the body.
DEXA (BONE MINERAL DENSITY TESTING)
Bone mineral density testing uses X-rays to scan your bones. It can be used to measure bone loss and evaluate your risk for developing osteoporosis.
This test uses a large donut-shaped machine equipped with an X-ray tub that rotates around your body to take detailed images of your internal organs. Your doctor may recommend a CT scan to detect cancer or heart disease, internal injuries or for diagnosing muscle or bone disorders.
MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING (MRI)
MRI uses a magnetic field and radio waves to provide radiologists with cross-sectional images of the head and body. It’s very useful in producing images of the brain, neck, spinal cord and soft tissues for diagnosing central nervous system disorders.
This imaging test uses a low dose of X-rays to screen breast tissue. It’s used for breast disease screening and early breast cancer diagnosis.
This exam uses sound waves to create images based on the patterns returned to a hand-held device used by the radiologist. While most commonly associated with pregnancy, ultrasound has additional uses including diagnosing infection and cancer, and biopsies and treatments of tumors.
One of the oldest imaging tests, the X-ray uses electromagnetic radiation to create images of bones, teeth and internal organs. It’s often used to assess bone problems or joint infections.
