Meet Our Navigators
Shelley Jones, BSN, RN, OCN
Oncology Nurse Navigator, GI Cancer Center
Shelly is a GI Nurse Navigator with the Baptist Cancer Network. She graduated from the University of Texas at Tyler Baccalaureate Nursing Program in 2008 and achieved her Oncology Nurse Certification in 2010. She began her nursing career at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler as a floor nurse on the Oncology Inpatient Unit. In 2010, she assisted with the opening of the new Oncology unit at Baylor Scott and White Medical Center in Grapevine. Most recently, she worked as a Physician’s Clinic RN at Texas Oncology Bedford for 5 years where she gained invaluable outpatient experience. She has extensive nursing knowledge of various solid tumor sites and Hematological Cancers. As a Baptist Patient Navigator, Shelley will focus on GI Cancers and the challenges presented to patients in this discipline. She will work to provide patient support using a holistic approach to overcome the barriers to timely treatment, the arranging of appointments, answering questions, educating about diagnosis and treatment, and being a strong patient advocate from the beginning of a patient’s cancer journey all the way through Survivorship. Her goal is to support patients, their families, and the entire care team with compassion and expertise and to provide excellence in Oncology care at Baptist.
