Board certified in both internal medicine and cardiovascular disease, Dr. Armistead Wellford, IV, is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology. He has been honored for his research with the Melvin Cheitlin Award for Excellence in Scientific Research by the U.S. Army American College of Physicians in addition to awards for his volunteerism, teaching and community service. Dr. Wellford has previously served as the Division Board President of the American Heart Association (AHA) of San Antonio.

cardiologist is a place that most patients would rather stay away from. When the word from my primary physician "your heart murmur appears to have worsen and I would like to refer you to a cardiologist" is something that I didn't want to hear but absolutely essential. its good because sometime if I don't see a name tag or ID I ask what's your name because I like to call a person by their name when I talk to them and when I leave I like to thank that person, all the ladies at the front desk, sometimes its 2 or 3 and I just say, good by ladies & thank you, if they are busy with customers they don't get to answer. They are very people oriented on the days I visit, I 've had no problems with them even the new ones that replaces ones that's been there and move on for some reason. Privacy and safety good I hope it never changes

I have been coming to your clinic for over 10 years, I came in unscheduled having some chest pains. *Dr. Buser was not in and your staff worked me in with *Dr. Wellford. *Dr. Wellford examined me and said I needed to go to the ER and was going to call an ambulance, I refused because I had my own car and the hospital is close by. *Dr. Wellford took me himself and came in and worked on me in the ER. He probably broke all the rules, but he probably saved my life. If that isn't what medicine is suppose to be about then I don't know what is. I can't speak more highly about *Dr. Wellford and your entire staff.
