About Kevin Higgins
Dr. Kevin Higgins graduated with his B.S. in Biochemistry from the State University of NY at Stony Brook in 1982. Later, in 1986, he received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. A surgical residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center brought Dr. Higgins to San Antonio, where he was Chief Resident from 1987- 1988. He completed his training in 1988 and entered private practice in San Antonio. Since then, Dr. Higgins and his family have made San Antonio their home.He specializes in evaluating each patient’s lifestyle and devising a treatment plan for their unique podiatric problems. Dr. Higgins believes good communication between health care providers benefits both patients and the physicians treating them. Based on this philosophy, he strives to be a great listener and to develop close working relationships with fellow doctors and care providers. He also speaks both English and Spanish. As a fitness and wellness advocate, Dr. Higgins has an interest in sports medicine, and he often makes podiatric evaluations and recommendations for exercise enthusiasts. Dr. Higgins’ goal is to help his patients achieve optimum foot health.

Dr Higgins was wonderful. From the minute I met him he was up front with the issues but made it not seem so tragic When it came time for follow up appointments his staff was great and very friendly. Priscilla was especially great she worked hard to schedule a lab appointment, a lunchtime, a vascular appointment and a podiatry appointment in the same building on the same day without any wait time in between and she succesed. If my appointment was scheduled at 1:00 I was called into the exam room at 1:00 and Dr Higgins was in there before my vitals were finished being taken. I had never had stitches before so when it was time for my stitches to come out I was a little nervous because I didn't know whether it hurt or not. I'm that type of person that if I see it happening then my mind says it hurts whether it does or not. You know the typical cry baby. Always expects the worse. Dr Higgins was putting my shoe back on and saying "okay you're all done you can go back to normal activity and I'll see you in a couple months". He was quick and distracted me so well that I didn't feel a thing and had to ask if he took them out. Well I guess having stitches taken out or having a surgeries is not that tragic. At least it wasn't with Dr Higgins and his staff. Considering the circumstances I would say it was a pleasant experience.
