Dr. Mario Alcantara is a native of South Texas and is married to a family practice physician who also practices in the San Antonio area. Dr. Alcantara is board certified in general and colorectal surgery and his surgical interests include inflammatory and infectious bowel disease, colon and rectal cancer, benign anal disease, and minimally invasive surgery. In fact, he sub-specialized in minimally invasive laparoscopy during fellowship training. He is also a surgeon treating complex cases in both Colorectal and General Surgery throughout South Texas.

when I was initially taken back for my vitals, the staff person, Jillian, , put the blood pressure cuff on my right forearm. I told her I i've never had that done before, but she insisted that it was accurate. As it turned out, it read 171/81. I've never had that high of a top reading in my life. When I went home after my office visit, my wife, who is an RN, took my blood pressure using the top part of my right arm, and it was as it usually is, 134/73.

Dr.Alcantara is a great physician, however I think he needs to have a computer in the room with him. Either this or the labs in his hands to walk the patient step-by-step as why he(Dr.Alcantara) feels like he does. In my case I found out that my surgery had been canceled via email not a phone call. one doctor told me I was fine Dr.Alcantara felt otherwise. I don't question his judgement but it would've been nice for him to show me the scan or report from radiologist.
