About Gerardo Lerma
NP Lerma began his nursing career in a Physical Rehabilitation unit at McAllen Medical Center in McAllen Texas. While working as a registered nurse, he became extremely passionate about health promotion and prevention. In San Antonio his focus changed to cardiac nursing where he worked for 13 years at Southwest Texas Methodist Hospital. His passion for medicine grew and he decided to focus his energy on becoming a family nurse practitioner, with a goal to help patients manage chronic diseases using prevention and empowerment while practicing evidence-based medicine. Since becoming a nurse practitioner, he feels more fulfilled with his career and has garnered a broader view of his patients' healthcare needs and goals. NP Lerma believes that comprehensive health management encompasses the benefits of prevention, patient empowerment and lifelong learning in the patient-provider relationship. His goal is to be proactive and supportive while delivering culturally appropriate care to each individual patient.

My husband and I absolutely love NP Lerma and his staff! Since our first visit, they have always been welcoming & They're are always so helpful! NP Lerma is thorough & gives great medical advice. The portal has had some appt scheduling issues, but I send them a msg and they always respond in a timely manner. We have never left the office feeling unheard or dismissed! I followed Dr. Lerma from his pervious location to the Skinner Clinic. He is the only PA or Dr. I have seen in the last 5 years that has gone out of his way to make sure I receive quality treatment. This was my first time to see Dr. Lerma and he conferred with Dr. Ling before seeing me which was great. Because I needed a surgical release very quickly I was not able to see Dr. Ling. I was pleased that they talked so that he knew me better.

all was good except the fact that I filled out a depression screening paper and I wrote nothing indicating that I am depressed but I did write that my son had committed suicide in November if 2017. I would ask that if they see something like that that they at least ask the patient about it as the mind and body work in extreme tandem! thanks
