About Sean Shahrestani

Dr. Shahrestani earned a medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine, graduating in the top 5% of his class with highest honors. Following medical school, he completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas working at Parkland Memorial Hospital, the city's largest level 1 trauma center, and the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, the country's number one pediatric orthopedic hospital. His residency experience included a focus on orthopedic trauma, fracture care of upper and lower extremity injuries, arthroscopic management of intra-articular pathologies, as well as joint reconstruction and replacement. Following his residency, Dr. Shahrestani completed a fellowship in joint replacement at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. There he became proficient in the surgical and non-surgical management of a wide spectrum of complex adult reconstructive conditions. Dr. Shahrestani subsequently treated patients in the San Antonio area in a private practice setting. Dr. Shahrestani has a special interest in robotic-assisted joint replacement, minimally invasive joint replacement, and muscular-skeletal injuries. Dr. Shahrestani believes in a comprehensive approach to orthopedic care, which includes both operative and non-operative treatment. He strives to provide the best care using the newest and most innovative technologies available. Dr. Shahrestani is focused on maximizing patient satisfaction and restoring quality of life. He views patient care as a team effort between the patient and the physician, and works to provide exceptional care by educating patients and developing a plan through shared decision making so that patients both understand their condition and have confidence in their treatment. Dr. Shahrestani treats patients 30 and older. He speaks some medical Spanish and speaks Farsi fluently.
