Limb Preservation Program
Baptist Health System's Limb Preservation Program helps prevent amputations through early diagnosis and coordinated, specialized care for patients with complex peripheral artery disease (PAD) or critical limb-threatening ischemia.
Diabetes and vascular conditions like PAD can reduce blood flow to your legs and feet which prevents the healing of any wounds or sores that develop. If left untreated, PAD can lead to serious infections, mobility issues and loss of a leg, foot or toes.
Our vascular surgeons, working together with podiatrists and wound care specialists, provide minimally invasive or open revascularization procedures and wound healing treatments to restore blood flow and promote healing in these complex, time-sensitive cases.
What Conditions Do We Treat?
- Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) with evidence of critical limb ischemia (non-healing wounds, rest pain)
- Peripheral vascular disease (PVD)
- History of previous failed vascular stent or bypass
- Diabetic foot infections or neuropathic ulcers, bone infections (osteomyelitis)
- Non-healing lower extremity wounds or ulcerations
- Critical limb ischemia
Streamlined, Compassionate, Patient Centered Care
The goal of the Limb Preservation Program is to streamline the patient’s care by providing rapid assessment and coordination of care for patients with limb threatening conditions. We treat each patient with compassion and create individualized treatment plans based their unique needs.
Our board-certified vascular surgeons offer the full spectrum of treatment options for complex PAD, critical limb ischemia and related vascular conditions. Their specialized training and years of experience treating these complex diseases are key to restoring blood flow that is critical to wound healing and preventing unnecessary amputations.
