What is General Surgery?
General surgery is a surgical specialty that focuses on the evaluation and treatment of a wide range of conditions involving the abdomen, skin, breast, soft tissues, endocrine organs and blood vessels. General surgeons also manage trauma, critical illness and certain cancers. They are trained to care for patients before, during and after surgery. Their broad surgical training enables them to respond to complex and urgent medical needs across many parts of the body.
