The loss of a limb is a traumatic event in anybody’s life, but Baptist Health System is committed to providing you with the comprehensive care you need.

At Baptist Rehab Centers, we know that amputation rehabilitation is different from all other types of rehab. It’s about providing the help you need to rebuild your life in a new way—one that allows you the most freedom and mobility possible.

Amputation rehabilitation is available at Baptist Medical Center, North Central Baptist Hospital, Northeast Baptist Hospital and St. Luke’s Baptist Hospital.

Your Care Will Be Customized to You

The amputation rehab program focuses on personalized, goal-oriented therapy that allows you and your family to prioritize and achieve your goals for mobility and independence.

We will teach you how to:

  • Use amputation-specific equipment
  • Increase your strength, endurance, flexibility and range of motion
  • Properly care for your skin
  • Complete self-care tasks safely, including dressing, bathing and transferring to and from the toilet or shower
  • Undergo prosthetic and orthotic assessments for discharge needs
  • Transfer to and from the car
Baptist Inpatient Rehab also offers access to a peer mentor who is also an amputation survivor.
